Daniel James Delle Chiaie
5/3/83 - 1/6/13

Daniel James Delle Chiaie was a son, a grandson, a brother, an uncle, a nephew, and a true friend to many.

Daniel is survived by his parents, Florence and Albert Delle Chiaie; his two sisters, Amanda Voss and Meghan Delle Chiaie; a beautiful newborn nephew, Gavin Michael Voss; his devout grandmother Martha Scheuer; and grandfather John Cameron.

He loved his friends and family with all his heart. And now, he will be forever watching over all of us.

Growing up, Daniel loved and excelled at soccer. He was given the nickname ‘White Pele.’ Danny's father loved being his and his sister’s coach. Soccer tournaments out of town throughout the years were a normal part of the Dellechiaie’s family life. Danny made Varsity at Needham Broughton High School during his freshman year.

Whether it be a road bike or a mountain bike - riding for miles and miles was one of his favorite past times over the last several years. He really loved riding the trails in Wilmington, NC - except when he rode through huge banana spider webs! Daniel would love everyone to remember to look out for bicyclists on the road.

His affinity for the zest of life, and his unique continuous joy for everything and everyone was contagious.

He was always the heart and energy of a great event. Whether it had been a meal, a sporting event, a concert, or just hanging out with his friends -he was always the heart and soul of whatever it may have been.

He was never accused of not being able to have a good time.

Danny loved being outdoors, especially the ocean. He saw more beauty in nature than most anybody. He is our rainbow throughout this storm. His admiration alone is something for us all to aspire towards. Danny possesssed such an extraordinary talent to be blinded by the bad and only be able to see the good. Let us all be like him in that way.

Danny wouldn’t put up with anyone messing with his sisters. He had no tolerance for it. He wasn’t scared of anyone, yet there was no malice in his heart. If a situation arose, Danny always had your back.

He was the best brother you could ask for.

He may have teased us until we were raging mad, but he always made us laugh until it hurt. Just making eye contact with him would send you into an uncontrollable fit of laughter (that would get you kicked out of church, class, or any other awkward situation). You may find yourself in a lot of trouble, but then he'd give you the shirt right off his back.

Our brother would do anything to make you laugh and feel better.

As a sister, going out for a night on the town with Danny was never boring. No matter what we did, or where we were - we made the best of it. Whenever we ate, drank, and laughed - we did so as though it was our last night on Earth. Sometimes (well, most of the time) he would make me go sit a few seats down so he could chat up a pretty girl. He was definitely a ladies’ man. I really don’t know how he did it sometimes.

Daniel James, please watch over your friends and family and help us stay focused. You are our rainbow throughout this storm.

We love you Danny, with all that we are. You were taken far too soon, you will forever be in our hearts.
